Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute
The Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute is a gem from both inside and outside. It is housed inside a windowless bronze and black Canadian granite building built in International style in 1960. On its inside, it features more than 25000 American and European paintings and decorative arts dating back to 18th century. The institute is flanked by a Victorian-era Italianate mansion called Fountain Elms, which is home to another superb collection of decorative artworks.
A step beyond normal zoos that offer animal exhibits, the Utica Zoo in the city offers several up-close experiences called ‘encounters’ with regional animals like African lions, California sea lions and red pandas.
