Historic Center
One of the eight historic centers in the country, Historic Center is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The center is home to temples, convents, imposing houses belonging to 17th and 18th century, ornate plazas, beautiful gardens, and old traditional cobblestone streets and alleys. These attractions of Historic Center are proofs of the rich and illustrious history of the city.
Aqueduct
Built in the Bernardo Quintana Boulevard, Aqueduct is a symbol of pride for the natives of the city. Considered as one of the most important urban constructions in Queretaro, Aqueduct was constructed in 1738 in order to bring the fresh water easily. This aqueduct is made of pink quarry stone and has 74 arches towering to about 23 meters. Even today, the water supply of the city comes via this aqueduct.
Temple of La Santa Cruz
Dating back to the 17th century, Temple of La Santa Cruz was built on the site where Queretaro finally surrendered to the Spaniards. At present, this temple is one of the main attractions of the city. Other than its historical importance, the temple also features cross shape spines growing in the shrubs of temple's gardens. Visitors can take the guided tours to explore the small art gallery, convent, and the room where Emperor Maximilian I spent his last night before his execution.
