Mauritius Botanical Garden
Also known as Pamplemousses Garden and SSR Botanical Garden, Mauritius Botanical Garden is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Mauritius. This garden is located near Port Louis. Mauritius Botanical Garden is the oldest botanical garden in the Southern Hemisphere. Built in 1767, the garden is majorly famous for its spice garden, giant water lilies, and its unique collection of 85 varieties of palm from Central America, Africa, Asia, and the islands around Indian Ocean.
Black River Gorges National Park
A national park stretched in an area of about 6547 hectares in the hilly southwestern part of the country, Black River Gorges National Park was constructed to save the natural vegetation of the island. Visitors can walk along the greenery and go to the highest point on the island. The plants and animals found in the park are Mauritian flying fox, pink pigeon, Mauritius cuckoo-shrike, Mauritius bulbul, and many more.
Trou aux Cerfs
Trou aux Cerfs is a 605 meters high extinct volcano in Curepipe, Mauritius. This crater has been described as 300 meters in diameter, and is 85 meters deep and is considered one of the main attractions of Curepipe. In its center is a small lake. From the view point on the crater one can enjoy stunning view of major part of Mauritius Island.
Gabriel Island
Also known as Ilot Gabriel, Gabriel Island is located near the Round Island and the Flat Island at the extreme north of the country. This island is a protected natural reserve and is popular for its crystal clear water and unspoiled beaches. Visitors can enjoy snorkeling here. The island also offers excellent dive sites and is a perfect destination for relaxing with friends and family.
