The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is the largest National Wildlife Refuge in the United States. It supports the most extensive range of flora and fauna. It is spread across 30000 square miles and consists of 6 different ecological zones. It is located close to two Canadian National Parks, known as Ivvavik and Vuntut.
Fairbanks Ice Museum features a breathtaking collection of nearly 100 ice sculptures. It is focally known for the Ice Showcase (a glass wall maintained at 20 deg F), and Freeze Frame (an audio visual presentation). Visitors are also offered drinks during evenings.
The Golden Days Festival is celebrated for five days during the third week of July in Fairbanks to celebrate the city’s history and 19th century Goldrush. The city’s residents take part in a number of cultural events and contests while flaunting Victorian style clothing. Two integral parts of these celebrations are the Golden Days Parade, and the Golden Discovery Race.
With its oldest car dating back to 1898, the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum is home to a mind-blowing collection of more than 80 vintage vehicles in Fairbanks. This iconic museum also has a collection of historic photos and videos relating to Alaskan history since 1900s besides several specimens of vintage clothing and fashion styles of last 100 years.
