Boot Hill Museum

An excellent place to visit for history buffs, Boot Hill Museum boasts more than 60,000 artifacts from the Old West era. Many of these exhibits were collected by Chalkley Beeson, who was the former sheriff and part-owned of the famous Long Branch Saloon. An audiovisual program in Boot Hill Museum simulates the feel of a buffalo stampede that happened in the days when those animals roamed here in huge herds. Mueller-Schmidt House

Also named as the "Home of Stone", Mueller-Schmidt House is an 1881 limestone house built for the family of boot maker John Mueller. Mueller sold it to the Schmidt family after the 1886 blizzard. Schmidt lived in this house until 1965 and sold it to Ford County for use as a museum. The tour of Mueller-Schmidt House is available from Memorial Day to Labor Day and is filled with period furniture and clothing.
