After the attack on Pearl Harbor during the Second World War, thousands of Japanese-Americans were detained in incarceration camps near Delta. The Topaz Museum in Delta offers a glimpse of those dreadful times and consists of several artworks, photographs, furniture, jewelry and personal belongings of those hapless souls.
Fort Deseret is the only remaining example of the many forts built in Utah in 19th century. This military installation was built to safeguard early settlers and American soldiers from Native American communities during the Utah Black Hawk War in 1865. This dilapidated 550-foot square fort is centred on a state park called Fort Deseret State Park.
Delta is situated in Millard County, which is famous for its abundance of Trilobite fossils. Some organizations offer preset fossil digging areas where visitors can dig fossils in return of some fees. One such popular area here is a mountain called Topaz Mountain, and is aptly known for an abundance of topaz.
Demolition Derby is one of the largest derbies in the United States. It is held every year on 4th July and comprises of eleven rounds of competition exclusively involving a race of figure 8 compact cars. The derby concludes with a stellar display of fireworks. It is sponsored by Hinckley Lions Club and is organized at the Millard County Fairgrounds in Delta.
