Memmingen is a town situated on the banks of the Iller River near the western border of Bavaria, Germany. Memmingen is located near to the Allgau region and hence is referred to the "Gateway to the Allgau". The area is said to have originated through Roman Empire. From past 50 years, Christmas Market is being held in Memmingen. Initially the motive of the market was to provide travelers with the opportunity to earn money. Near about 30 stalls are put up which sell various Christmas items and gifts. This market opens few days prior to the festival.
St. Martin's Church
St. Martin's Church is one of the oldest churches in Memmingen. Situated in the outskirts, the church is an important landmark in the region. It is the tallest building in the city (nearly 65 meters tall). House to numerous artwork including around 500 year old choir stalls, it is said to be precious art treasury in the city.
