Cheap Flights from Philadelphia to San Antonio

San Antonio is the second-most populous city in the state of Texas and the Southern United States. This city is home to some of Texas' most famous sites related to the formative years of the city’s history. A day for visitors here generally kick-starts with a trip to Alamo and its nearby historic missions. The city’s military past is exemplified by the existence of numerous installations of US Army and Air Force. Another attraction here is the Fort Sam Houston, a historic fort situated inside the city limits.

Alamo

Alamo is one of the most important historical sites in the country. It was a part of an early 18th century Spanish mission station whose church was later constructed by the Franciscans in 1744. It was the location of the iconic battle of Battle of the Alamo in 1836 in which a despairingly outnumbered force of US soldiers stood against a wave of Mexican army and met their glorious end. This combat later concluded in the independence of Texas from Mexicans a few years later.

River Walk

River Walk is among the most important attritions in the San Antonio, so much so that the city is dubbed ‘The River City.’ River Walk is home to charming stone walkways, beautiful and calm surroundings, old bridges, and copious restaurants and cafes that stand along the riverside of the San Antonio River. It is magnificent place to just take a morning walk or to bite a quick meal alongside the river.

San Antonio Missions

San Antonio Missions, designated the state’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site, were all built in early 18th century by the Spanish exploders to colonize the region. The most eminent among them is the Alamo or Mission Valero that saw a gruesome battle between the defending Americans and invading Mexican forces. Other famed missions here are Mission San Jose, Mission Concepción and Mission San Juan.

Best Time to Visit San Antonio
