New Hampshire is a state in the New England region of the United States and its capital is Concord. A regional top shot for its superb weekend vacation facilities, the state offers a large number of recreational activities across its range of spectrum. The state runs for first 13 (or 18) miles across a seacoast and encircles the highest peak of the northeast (Mount Washington) besides including a number of forests, lakes, hills and valleys. You should come here for its sunny seaside beaches, lakes, skiing, snowshoeing, kayaking, above-timberline hiking, sailing and some eclectic architecture.

Strawbery Banke

Now a renowned history museum, the Strawbery Banke in Portsmouth is the oldest standing European settlement in New Hampshire. It consists of more than 40 restored buildings that together relate to Colonial, Georgian and Federal style architectures, and were built during 17th and 19th centuries. This vintage house assembly offers public views to their well-furnished interiors, an initiative undertaken by some fancy costumed volunteers who delightfully demonstrate cooking, crafts, and skills from the various periods.

Mount Washington Cog Railway

The Mount Washington Cog Railway in Bretton Woods is the world's first mountain-climbing cog railway and second steepest rack railway. It is operational and would best serve you during a trip to Mount Washington to offer some truly scintillating views of the mountaintop and the place below. The mountaintop is yet another delight for the visitors as it offers you a visit to a cafeteria, a small museum and the Mount Washington Observatory- it is a research station that studies extreme weather conditions prevalent at the highest peak of the northeast.

Portsmouth Harbor Trail

Portsmouth Harbor Trail links a series of sites related to the last four centuries of African American identity in Portsmouth. It is hallmarked by nearly 25 bronze plaques commemorating the initial parts of their torturous denial and their subsequent rise, all bracketed between a timeframe from 1680s to 1960s. Some stellar highlights here include the Warner House (built in 1716, it is home to the first example of Queen Anne furniture in America), the John Paul Jones House (built in 1758, where several old chinaware and silverware are kept) and the Governor John Langdon House (built in 1785, its interiors are decorated with ornate woodwork and period furnishings).
