Florence Italy in November
This was my first time going to Italy. We chose the time and place because my husband was going to Florence for business. We took a week of holiday time before his meetings. The weather was wonderful, not hot or cold. The tourist sites were open but not too busy on weekdays especially. I have heard the summer visitors suffered from crowded conditions, hot humid weather, and buildings that are not well air conditioned. There were virtually no line to get into museums. With less people it was easier to get close to the exhibits.
One place we especially enjoyed was the Stibbert museum. It features arms and armor from the 16th - 18th centuries. My 9 year old grandson who doesn't like most museums was in seventh heaven. There are also many beautiful pieces of art, beautiful art and lovely grounds there. The Stibbert is on the edge of town on a hillside. We took a taxicab to get there and walked downhill to catch the bus back into the old city where we were staying.
I highly recommend staying in a place near the old city center. We were able to easily walk to almost everything we wanted to see. Just walking around in the old city was fun. I was amazed at how many beautiful churches there were. If you want leather goods there's at lr - Valerie Nov 17, 2015
