Search Airline Tickets to Florence, South Carolina

Florence is a city and the county seat of Florence County in South Carolina, United States. The city had played a pivotal role in blunting the Union Forces offensives during the American Civil War. Some star attractions in Downtown Florence include the War Between the States Museum, the Florence Museum of Art, Science and History, Florence Symphony Orchestra and the Performing Arts Center at Francis Marion University.

For the more sedate souls, the Lynches River Park is a confluence of nature and serenity- an experience that can be best topped by a visit through the SC Revolutionary Rivers Trail to the Lynches River Park. Beach enthusiasts would like to drive for an hour to reach the Myrtle Beach.

War Between the States Museum
Florence’s star attraction, the War Between the States Museum in Florence is home to an extensive collection of Civil War artifacts. You would find guns, uniforms, swords, armor, personal items, rare books, official documents and pictures of noted veterans in this museum. An allied collection related to the Florence Stockade (the prison camp where more than 12000 Union soldiers or Prisoners of War were kept in 1864) is also on display here.
Florence County Museum
The Florence County Museum is home to a scintillating collection of artifacts from the American Civil War up to and including the First World War. Also of note here is an original artwork by Florence native William H. Johnson, Pueblo pottery, ethnographic art and Asian art.
Lynches River County Park
The Lynches River County Park is located on Lynches River. The 676-acre of sprawling greenery is hallmarked by a river swamp, cypress trees and sand hills amidst a wide range of vegetation. Visitors can be sure of themselves to have a gala time here while canoeing, kayaking, following nature trails, picnicking, fishing and geocaching- especially during the summer season.
