A fine art museum located on Bay Shore Road, the Ringling is among the top tourist attractions in the city. This museum boasts 21 galleries of American Art, contemporary art, Asian art, European paintings, and ancient artifacts from Cyprus. The items put on show in the museum include more than 10,000 objects including drawings, decorative arts, prints, photographs, and sculptures that vary from antiquity to modern art. The Ringling displays works by Ruben, Velauez, Bernini, Duchamp, Boudin, Poussin, Gainsborough, and more.
Nestled in the Hudson Bayou neighborhood, Marie Selby Botanical Gardens is located on South Palm Avenue bordering the Sarasota Bay. This immense botanical garden covers area of seven acres and focus on collecting and showcasing epiphytes such as orchids and bromeliads and their ecosystems. These gardens boasts the most varied collection of bromeliads in the world and feature more than 20 different habitats such as mangroves, bamboo, succulents, live oaks, and many more.
Big Cat Habitat and Gulf Coast Sanctuary, located on the Palmer Boulevard in Sarasota, is a haven for big cats and several other animals. This sanctuary mainly focuses on caring and rescuing exotic cats and other animals and educating visitors about the importance and need of wildlife conservation. It also features three large habitats with swimming pools and plants to create natural settings.
