Rygge is a municipality in Ostfold county Norway and is connected to Oslo by an hour’s drive. It has flat terrain and a lake to add to the landscape. It’s most prominent attraction is the picturesque and child-friendly Larkollen Beach, which has one of Norway’s best camping features and a generous number of crabs and fish that you would find a liking to. If you’re distinctly religious and staid, Rygge Church is just the place for you. This twelfth century church does not follow that typical reputation of being an ornate European Catholic or Orthodox church, but its altarpieces are just about exemplary. This renowned church is also regarded as one of the biggest and oldest of all standing stone churches in the country. At about fifteen minutes drive from Rygge is the island of Jeloya and it is another beautiful place to spend a Sunday. You can enjoy sit along the beach or relish local seafood here.
Once through with all these attractions in Rygge, you’d be well advised to visit northern parts of the country to witness the beauty of fjords (lagoons).
