Jackson Zoo
Jackson Zoo has been setup with the aim to educate its visitors about wildlife and environment conservation. The zoo is home to around 125 species of animals, of which 14 are endangered such as Amur Leopard, Fishing Cat, Chimpanzee, Sumatran Tiger and several others. The zoo is being managed by Jackson Zoological Society Incorporation from past 29 years.
Russell C. Davis Planetarium
The construction of the Russell C. Davis Planetarium was done with the sole motive to provide entertainment and education related to astronomy and training in celestial navigation. The prominent feature of the planetarium is its projection screen which is in the shape of dome. The projection dome is around 60 feet in diameter. Planetarium also serves as a venue for several other events like screening of films, fashion shows, comedy shows and lots more.
Mississippi Children’s Museum
The Mississippi Children’s Museum was established in the year 1994 with the aim to provide better health, literacy, and well being of the children of Mississippi. The museum has five galleries which provide various educational, interactive, and some weekly programs emphasizing literacy, health and nutrition, cultural arts, science and technology, engineering and mathematics.
