The most remarkable monument in the city, Statue of Ismail Samani occupies a prominent section of real estate in the Maydan-e-Azadi (Freedom Square). It is the statue of Ismail Samani, who was the 10th century ruler of the region. The statue had replaced an older statue of Lenin.

Located in the heart of Dushanbe on the Luchob river bank, Dushanbe Zoo is an excellent place to visit for nature lovers and wildlife buffs. There are around 600 animals kept in this zoo, including both indigenous and foreign species of African and Asian fauna. Some of the major fauna species kept here are brown bear, jaguar, lion, snow leopard, raccoon, and more.
