The collection spans the colonial times to the present.

South Australian Museum:
Located adjacent to the State Library, South Australian Museum is a top research facility famed for its aboriginal heritage collections. This museum, in addition to the arrayed Australian collection, also features artifacts from the South Pacific islands in the permanent Pacific Cultures Gallery. Visitors can also gaze upon Egyptian antiquities and explore local flora and fauna at the South Australian Biodiversity Gallery.
