Counted among one of the most significant archaeological sites in French Polynesia, Taputapuatea Marae features a wealth of information about Havai’i’s cultural and historical background. Inside the site there are a lot of stone structures and a huge rock slab in the center. According to legends, the Polynesians who explored Hawaii were from Raiatea and gave it the name of their homes.
Located east of Raiatea Island, the neighborhood of Uturoa is excellent for sightseeing. Water babies will love to explore one of neighborhood’s 49 surrounding water slides. Some of the closely located slides are Port d' Uturoa, Tetaro, Baie Tubua and Passe Teavapiti. Apart from sliding the watery site is also excellent for photography.
The area lying close to Raiatea Airport suit people’s conveniences visiting the island for the first time. The airport lies not only close to many of island’s notable attractions but also features some of the top-notch hotels like the Opoa Beach Hotel, La Croix Du Sud and more.
