Nashville is the capital and largest city of the state of Tennessee and the
seat of Davidson County in the US. This riverside city on the Cumberland
River is situated in the Nashville Basin, which is a famous natural
wildlife hotspot. Nashville is nicknamed the ‘Country Music Capital of the
World’ and ‘Music City, USA’ for its extensive music and dance culture. It
is also famous for being home to the head-offices of several music
recording companies, production studios and related companies. Some popular
attraction here are the Country Music Hall of Fame, Ryman Auditorium and
Belle Meade Plantation.
Things to do in Nashville
Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum
Chartered in 1964, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is one of the
world's largest museums and research centers dedicated to American
vernacular music. It features the world's largest repository of country
music artifacts, photographs and vintage videos. The same collection is
seconded by one of the world's most comprehensive musical collections.
The Ryman Auditorium is a late 19th century, 2362-seat live
performance venue located in Nashville. It is also called the ‘Mother
Church’ of country music in the US and is regarded as one of CitySearch's
‘Best Places to Hear Live Music.’ This iconic auditorium was formerly known
as Grand Ole Opry House and Union Gospel Tabernacle because it used to host
the Grand Ole Opry, which was a 93-year old weekly country-music stage
concert that ran from 1943 to 1974.
Belle Meade Plantation
The Belle Meade Plantation is a historic mansion whose grounds now function
as a museum. Located in Nashville, this Greek-Revival landmark had played a
pivotal role in the American Civil War. Some star highlights here are its
mid-19th century mansion and a carriage house and one of the oldest log
cabins in the state, that date back to late 19th century.
