Tenakee Springs (also known as Tlaaguwu Aan in Tlingit language) is a city on Chichagof Island in Hoonah-Angoon Census Area, Alaska, United States. This small town is best known its therapeutic hot mineral springs since 1895 and recreational activities like hiking, fishing, kayaking, whale watching and sailing. Visitors can choose to hike or bike in nearby logging trails in the abandoned logging roads that would lead them from one end of the island to the other.
Also of note is a late 19th century marketplace called Tenakee Market. It offers regional delicacies and wines, and is often touted as ‘the best store in Southeast Alaska.’ Next bit of history here is the Shamrock Building. It was built in 1902 and has served as a jail, pool hall, dance hall and bakery during last 100 years of its existence.
The city is served by Tenakee Seaplane Base (IATA: TKE). It is a state-owned, public-use seaplane base that offers flights to the Alaskan city of Juneau by Alaska Seaplane Service.

It would be nearly worthless to come to Tenakee and not soak oneself in its therapeutic 105 deg F mineral springs. Its healing properties have been long known to the local tribes. The bathhouse is open 24x7 throughout the year, but observes separate bathing times for men and women.

Tenakee Springs Trail
Continuing from Tenakee Springs is the alpha point of hike trails running through forested paths. They run parallel to the shoreline on both eastern and western sides of town, and lead to old logging roads on Chichagof Island. The eastern part would lead you to a beautiful suspension bridge and then to a miscellany of an old wharf and an old cannery. You can easily top this marvelous experience if you are exploring the area by biking.
