Saint Lucia is a sovereign island country located in the eastern Caribbean Sea on the boundary with the Atlantic Ocean. The capital of this island is Castries. Pigeon Island is in the northern region of Saint Lucia. The island is
composed of two peaks and is a historic site boasting several forts such as
the Fort Rodney and the 18th-century British fort, both built by the
British to put on eye on French Ships from adjoining Martinique. The island
was named a national park in 1979 and in 1992 it became a national
landmark. Today, Pigeon Island organizes Saint Lucia Jazz Festival.
Gros Islet Quarter
Gros Islet is the newest town in Saint Lucia. The town has been recently
promoted from a village to a town. Gros Islet is the location of the Darren
Sammy National Cricket Stadium where parts of the 2010 ICC World Twenty20
and 2007 Cricket World Cup were played. This town is the administrative
center of the Gros Island Quarter that includes the island's northernmost
point, Cap Point. The old fishing village in Gros Islet is the place where
locals and tourist both dance in a central cross section to the sounds of
calypso, reggae, R&B, and zouk.
Vieux Fort is a town near the southernmost point of the country. The town
is named after a fort that was used to watch out Saint Vincent towards the
south. The town used to be an important center of the sugar industry in
Saint Lucian in the 18th and 19th Centuries. In the Second World War, the
Americans built here an airfield - Beane Army Airfield. This airfield was
later expanded to form Hewanorra International Airport after the war was
over. Today, this town is the main point of entry for Saint Lucia and
features a port located in the south of the town.

Weather-wise, the best time to take Saint Lucia flights is from mid-December to mid-April. This period sees dry and sunny weather and brings more visitors to the country; therefore, it is also the peak tourism season in the country. It is advisable to book tickets in advance to get cheap flights to Saint Lucia as airfares tend to rise during peak season.
