Honiara, the capital city of the Solomon Islands, is located on the island of Guadalcanal. There are several attractions here that capture the interests of tourists. The Botanical Gardens comprises an orchid house. American War Memorial features descriptions of local battles fought throughout the Guadalcanal Campaign of WWII. Constructed by Japanese veterans, the Solomons Peace Memorial Park honors those who died in the battles. Located west of the city, Vilu War Museum puts on display memorials and WWII aircraft. Bonegi Beach, located in proximity to the park, is an excellent site for diving and snorkeling.

Weather-wise, the dry season is the best time to visit Solomon Islands. The country is majorly thronged by the tourists between the months of December and February. Fares of Solomon Islands flights are more expensive at this time of the year. Tourists also come here in huge numbers in the months of June and July.
