A city in Kodiak Island Borough in the US state of Alaska, Old Harbor is located around 70 miles southwest of the city of Kodiak and is tucked away in the sheltered waters of Sitkalidak Strait. It is a vibrant little port for commercial and sport fishing activity. Old Harbor is one of the most scenic areas on Kodiak Island and is nestled on a slender beach at the foot of a verdant mountain with dramatic peaks towering overhead to the northeast. This city is home to both fishing lodges and charter boat operators targeting silver salmon in September and king salmon in May. Charter captains in Old Harbor kayaking, hunting, and wildlife adventures. The city is an excellent area for viewing large sea mammal haul-outs and Kodiak Island's largest puffin colony situated on nearby Flat Land. Standing tall in the middle of the city is Three Saints Russian Orthodox Church that is a badge of its rich past and is also the hub of community activity today. Tourists can reach Old Harbor by water and air.
