Mardi Gras
Mobile organizes the oldest Mardi Gras celebration in the United States of America. Fort Conde
The original Fort Conde was constructed in 1702. In 1723 a new fort was built as the older one was destroyed in the floods. The new fort was built of stone, brick, earthen dirt walls, and cedar wood. The structure is home to the Museum of Mobile boasting several exhibits related to the history of the city.
