Officially named the Department of Mayotte, Mayotte is an insular department and region of France. The country includes a main island, Grande-Terre, a smaller island, Petite-Terre, and numerous islets around these two. Mayotte is in the northern Mozambique Channel in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Southeast Africa, between northeastern Mozambique and northwestern Madagascar. There are several beautiful beaches located nearby among which the most famous are Trevani and Plage du Phare.
