Des Moines is the capital and county seat of Polk County in Iowa, US. It is one of the mainstays of American insurance industry, financial services and publishing houses. Its interiors have a superb collection of Civil War and First World War relics in addition to several allied artworks, carvings and statues. This Renaissance masterpiece is flanked by some iconic monuments and memorials including the Soldiers and Sailors' Monument and the Lincoln and Tad statue.
The Iowa State Fair is organized in August every year in Des Moines. This eleven day wonder colors the city in a rousing ambiance relating to regional agriculture, visual arts and culinary practices. Attended by over a million visitors, it is one of the largest state fairs in the country and is rendered to its crowning glory Iowa’s largest parade and several concerts and entertainment shows by Hollywood celebrities.
