Rocky Mountain National Park
One of the great treasures of Colorado, Rocky Mountain National Park
features mountains, lakes, and an immense array of flora and fauna. The
region offers camping facilities, hiking trails, and opportunities for
cross-country skiing, horseback riding, snowshoeing, and fishing depending
on the season. This national park remains open all through the year.
However, the Trail Ridge Road remains open only from the end of May to
October because of the winter weather conditions.
Colorado National Monument
Located few miles west of Grand Junction, Colorado National Monument is a
nature reserve boasting bizarre rock formations and canyons. There are
plethora of hiking trails running through the area. Visitors can explore
the landscape and learn about the history of the region through an
assortment of exhibits displayed at the visitor centre here.
Pikes Peak in Pike National Forest
Standing at 14, 115 feet in elevation, Pikes Peak in Pike National Forest
is one of the most visited mountains in the world. Visitors have a choice
to drive to the summit of Pikes Peak or take a Pikes Peak Cog Railway for a
scenic 8.9-mile trip with a round trip time of just over three hours.
