Szechenyi Bridge

The Szechenyi Bridge bears the name of Hungarian politician, Istvan Szechenyi who was a major supporter of the project. However, it is popularly known as the Chain Bridge. Designed by William T. Clark, it is a suspension bridge which connects Buda and Pest. The mid-19th century bridge was the first permanent bridge to connect the western and eastern sides. The Szechenyi Bridge is an iconic structure offering panoramic views of the both sides and the Danube. The cast-iron bridge is emblematic of the city as well as Hungary.

Hungarian Parliament

The Hungarian Parliament is the seat of the National Assembly of Hungary. It is the second biggest parliament building in Europe after the Romanian Parliament. The elegant building looks over the Danube and has elements of Gothic Revival and Renaissance Revival architecture styles. The Parliament has a central dome and a symmetrical facade which features statues of famous military figures, Transylvanian leaders and Hungarian rulers.

Buda Castle District

Buda Castle is the historical castle complex of Hungarian rulers in the Castle District. The Baroque Royal Palace houses the Budapest History Museum and the Hungarian National Gallery. The Buda Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Castle District includes other prominent points of interest like the 11th century Matthias Church, the neo gothic viewing platform, Fisherman’s Bastion and the Cold War era bunker museum, Hospital in the Rock.
