Situated near Mostar, in the village of Ortiješ, Bosnia and Herzegovina, is the Mostar International Airport. It opened for international flights during 1984 Winter Olympics to relieve the flight congestion of Sarajevo International Airport. Today it stands as the second busiest airport in the country with plans of further expansion under way. The airport's proximity to town of Me?ugorje, has also resulted in increased visitor attraction to this Catholic pilgrimage. A number of airlines have scheduled flights to and from Mostar International Airport, Mistral Air topping the list with the highest number. The airport is also the hub for Egyptian airliner, AlMasria Universal Airlines. Scheduled flights fly to various important destinations across Europe such as Athens, Naples, Vienna, Milan-Malpensa and Turin . Charter flights are also operated by the airport.
