Well worth it, especially if you know someone
Finland has a lot to offer in terms of sheer natural beauty in a rural setting. We visited Hanko, where we took a trail to the southernmost point of mainland Finland, and Fiskas, which has the highest concentration of quaint buildings in a village of 1,000 people I've ever seen and serves as an artisan colony, and of course Helsinki, which needs no introduction. We spent 5 days in Finland.
We would never have found these places without having a family friend in Finland. That tells me there are more hidden gems out there. Do make an effort to get out of Helsinki, which is nice but not appealed to us less than Copenhagen and Stockholm. There is a great vegetarian restaurant in Helsinki as well a great open air market. Their SkyWheel pales in comparison to the London Eye. - Steven Sep 03, 2015
