SkyEurope Airlines
Founded in 2001, SkyEurope Airlines (NE) was a low cost airline based in Bratislava, Slovakia. Ever since its inception, SkyEurope Airlines had been very popular among passengers owing to its highly dedicated services. On 27 September 2005, this low cost airline went public on the Vienna and Warsaw stock exchanges. With a network covering more than 30 destinations, SkyEurope Airlines had main hubs in Bratislava’s M. R. Štefánik Airport, Prague’s Ruzyne Airport and Vienna’s Vienna International Airport.
SkyEurope was the first airline to announce a major cut in ticket prices to minus 10 koruna. It claimed to be the first airline that pays its passengers for flying with them. With a small fleet of 19 airplanes, SkyEurope Airlines operated on 44 routes in 17 countries. After filing for bankruptcy on September 1, 2009, SkyEurope Airlines closed all its operations.
