These are the rules defined for Carry On, Checked and Excess baggage.
Carry On: United Airlines allows you to carry one bag for free provided its maximum dimensions are 14in*9in*22in. Passengers can also carry one personal item which can be anything from a laptop bag to backpack.
Checked: United Airlines levies only service charge on the first two bags provided they do not exceed the weight of 50 pounds each and have maximum dimensions of 62in. If you carry any additional bag or have any bag that weighs more than 50 pounds, then you'll be charged extra for the same.
Excess: Bags that weigh more than 100 pounds will not be accepted as checked baggage. For every bag that exceeds the free checked allowance limit, you'll be charged $100 for travel within the US and $200 for travel outside the US.
Itinerary Modifications and Cancellations
If you have booked your ticket in the last 24 hours and want to cancel it, then you are eligible for the reduction or waiver of the cancellation fees. In any other case, you'll be charged a penalty fee and would have to apply for the refund of the remaining amount. In case you want to rebook, you'll have to pay the penalty fee as well as the fare difference.
•United Airlines understands your love for your pets and keeps them in the cabin area. Service charge of $125 is charged each way for a single pet.
•For infants who are less than 2 years and are traveling on an adult's lap, no ticket is required. However for infants above 2 years, you will be required to book a seat.
•United Airlines also allows sporting equipments to be carried as checked baggage provided it's packed correctly and doesn't exceed the 'free checked allowance' limit. Items permitted include archery equipment, baseball equipment, bicycles, bowling equipment and much more.
