It’s not too late to book an awesome trip for Memorial Day! Though there’s not much time left, if you’re willing to be flexible and a little creative, there are still a lot of domestic travel options, no matter what kind of break you’re looking to take!
– If you’re down to party, try hopping a flight to Miami, where the nightlife is always bustling, the Best of the Best Music Fest is booming!
– If you’re looking for the beach scene without all the noise, head to Palm Springs, California. Not nearly as crowded this time of year (it’s the off-season), with weather that’s basically perfect!
– For an even more relaxed time, try Charleston, South Carolina. The USA’s “Friendliest City” has been making a huge tourist come back this year, offers historic walking tours, great food and the Spoleto Festival – some of the world’s best opera, classical music and dance.
– For a truly patriotic experience, there’s no better place to be than Washington DC. The National Memorial Day concert will take place, as always, on the lawn of the Capitol Building. You can also head to Denver for the official Carry the Load walk, honoring those who have served. If you can’t make it down, check out their listing of other events across the country.
– If you’ve really waited until the last minute (or only found this post the Friday before Memorial Day) take a day trip to the nearest big city and celebrate there! If you are anywhere near a public or National Park, there’s almost certainly a parade, free concert, fair, or fireworks display you can attend – no advance planning required! Check local listings to find something nearby – and be sure to invite some friends and family!
