Puerto Vallarta is a major Mexican resort town located on the Pacific Ocean’s Bahía de Banderas (Bay of Flags). It is often referred to as PV or simply Vallarta.
The town became a major destination for American travelers during the 1960s and 70s and currently has a permanent population of about 225,000. Vallarta is especially popular among travelers from the United States’
West Coast due to the ease of travel and frequent number of flights
offered.
With nearly 50% of Purto Vallarta’s economy relying on the hospitality industry, it has been dubbed “The Friendliest City in the World.”
