Five Things to Do in Hollywood’s Griffith Park

This blog post was updated on October 10, 2018.

Griffith Park is an expansive recreational area located in the Hollywood Hills (on Mount Hollywood, to be exact).

Visitors arriving on flights to Los Angeles could spend an entire day (or a few) exploring all that this unique spot has to offer.

The Griffith Observatory: The nationally recognized Griffith Observatory is open to those interested in astronomy Wednesday-Sunday. The Observatory, located on the southern slope of Mount Hollywood, doesn’t just offer great views of the stars, it also boasts one of the best views of Los Angeles.

Horseback Riding Experienced and novice horseback riders alike will enjoy a ride through the winding trails of Mount Hollywood. A variety of trail rides (of varying lengths and degrees of difficult) are available. Advance reservations recommended.

Hiking There are a variety of hiking trails (of varying degrees of difficulty) throughout Griffith Park. Don’t be surprised to see uber-fit Angelinos jogging by you as you stop to enjoy the views of the park and the city.

Golf: Golfers of all skill levels will love the views from the 18-hole, par 72 Harding Municipal Golf Course, located in the heart of Griffith Park. Booking a tee time online is recommended.

Dog Park: Carouse with the canines at the Griffith Park Dog Park. Grab a seat at a picnic table and take the pup off his or her leash for some friendly fun with the many dogs who frequent this park.
