Champagne + Fromage in the Heart of London

This blog post was updated on October 5, 2018.

Following a successful run as a pop up, the folks behind Covent Garden’s Champagne + Fromage have apparently decided to sign a longer lease to continue offering their winning combo of French delights.

Quaint and rustic, Champagne + Fromage is the retail arm of French Bubbles, an “artisanal collection of fine quality, limited-production grower Champagnes with personality and heritage.” The shop is one part Champagne shop, one part fromagerie and one part bistro – a recipe that adds up to a sparklingly delicious French shopping experience in the heart of Central London.

All of the French Bubbles range of non-vintage Champagnes along with their carefully sourced Grand Cru and Premier Cru bottles are available for purchase at the shop, and an in-house fromagerie will allow visitors to take home their favourite cheeses in order to try some home Champagne pairings. Cheese and charcuterie come by way of London-based French cheese merchants, Une Normande à Londres.

Visitors to the Champagne + Fromage can sample tasters from the French Bubble’s range of Champagne with the owners and staff on hand to give advice on how to pair Champagnes with French cheese and charcuterie. For customers wishing to soak up the Gallic atmosphere grab a bite and quench their thirst with some quality quaff, cheese and charcuterie platters paired with five boutique Champagnes are available as well as specialty French dishes, tartine and desserts such as chocolate fondant.

Time to pop the cork and C+F’s good fortune? Well, sure. They’re certainly onto a good idea. Located amid some of London’s most popular theatres, markets and shopping districts, Champagne + Fromage is a convenient and tasteful setting for pre and post theatre nibbles and drinks. For shopping spree pit stops and easily accessible, non-pub Central London meeting places, this one’s hard to beat.

Champagne + Fromage is located at 22 Wellington Street, WC2E 7DD. The nearest London Underground station is Covent Garden (but Charing Cross, Embankment, Temple and Leicester Square are very close as well). The shop is open Tuesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Find out more about Champagne + Fromage at
