The Sultan Ahmed Mosque is more commonly referred to as The Blue Mosque.
Built between 1609 and 1616, the mosque remains an active place of worship to this day, but has also become one of the most popular tourist attractions in Istanbul.
With its impressive exterior and intricate interior, the mosque wows thousands of visitors each day.
In Novermber 2006, the Blue Mosque was visited by Pope Benedict XVI, one of the many highlights of the potniff’s visit to Turkey.
