Spain Expecting Increase in Foreign Arrivals for Summer 2011

This blog post was updated on October 25, 2018.

After hemorrhaging tourism dollars for over half a decade, Spain is expecting a major rebound in tourism as it heads into summer 2011.

A number of factors have made Spain an attractive getaway for Europeans once again.

Political unrest in Egypt and elsewhere in North Africa coupled with rising fuel prices in much of Europe means that many Europeans are staying closer to home on their summer holidays.

A London-based research firm, Euromonitor International, expects foreign arrivals in Spain to increase 3.5 points to 54.3 million in 2011.
