In Las Vegas, shows are a dime a dozen, so it’s not easy to make a decision on what to see if you are as indecisive as me. Finally, after combing through pamphlets and magazines, and after being bombarded with billboards at every corner, we decided on seeing the magic spectacle of Criss Angel.
You might know Criss Angel from his television show, Mindfreak, which showcases some of his street magic, his illusions and his big-time stunts that blow people away. Although I’m not one to be amazed by the tricks that make buildings disappear, I am a sucker for some good old fashioned street magic.
I prepared for a night that could potentially leave me flabbergasted.
The Criss Angel “Believe” show plays at 7pm at the Luxur in Vegas. We took our seats at around 6:30pm (you can’t get in if you show up late) with a popcorn and a couple of the giant frozen margaritas that are popular on every corner in the city.
Since I didn’t hit big on gambling in the casinos in advance, we chose our seats in the upper section because they are cheaper. Overall, you get a good view of the stage and show in general, but I must say that I was definitely squinting when it came to the more slight-of-hand tricks. I heard people walking out of the show saying that they were amazed being so close and having the illusions executed, so I would recommend dropping a few extra dollars for the closer seats if you plan to have your mind totally “freaked”.
Overall, it was a spectacle. There were explosions, giant saws, comedy and insight into the past and beginnings of Criss Angel himself. I wouldn’t say I was ever not entertained during the show, and I wouldn’t say there’s not something for everyone. However, I feel that the mix – the making the show likable in some way to every person – sort of took away from the overall vibe (for me, personally).
So, would I recommend the Criss Angel show? Yes, if you like magic and are a Criss Angel fan, the show will entertain. There are bits of illusion that really leaves you wondering how in the world he got from here to there in a split second. However, if you want the show to totally blow your mind, don’t skimp on the ticket. The closer the seat, the more amazing the show will be in the end.
You can set aside some dough for this and other great Sin City shows when you book one of OneTrave’s great Las Vegas flight deals.
