Airlines Scrap Bag Fees for Service Members Following Viral Video Flap

This blog post was updated on August 21, 2019.

American Airlines, Delta, and United-Continental have all revised their policies on extra bag fees for United States service men and women traveling on orders.

The move comes a week after two servicemen were charged $2,800 in bag fees on a recent Delta flight.

The incident was captured on video and went viral on the internet, causing outrage among the American public.

Delta issued an apology to the service members involved in the incident and pledged to reimburse the fees.

Under the new bag policies, troops will be allowed four free checked bags on Delta and United-Continental flights and up to five free bags on all American Airlines flights.
