Today the Sahara Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip closes its doors for good.
The official closing comes just two months after the casino’s operators declared that keeping the aging structure open was no longer economically viable.
The sixth hotel and casino to open on the Strip, the Sahara holds a special place in Sin City’s history, once hosting the likes of Don Rickles, Johnny Carson, and the Rat Pack.
The hotel’s final guests check out around noon on Monday. About 1,000 jobs will be lost as a result of the closure.
