According to the latest data from the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Dora has been upgraded to a powerful Category 4 storm, packing sustained winds of up to 135 mph.
The mammoth storm is currently churning in the Pacific Ocean about 235 miles off the coast of Acapulco, Mexico.
A tropical storm watch is in effect for coastal areas from Lazaro Cardenas to Cabo Corrientes, according to officials.
Though the storm is currently well off-shore, it is expected to create deadly surf and rip-tide conditions because of its sheer strength.
