The exact source of the outbreak remains a mystery but officials suspect bacteria-infected lettuce, cucumbers, and tomatoes may be to blame.
To quell travelers’ fears, American Airlines announced on its website that it will temporarily suspend service of in-flight salads on all flights originating in Europe.
The airline said it will monitor reports and seek advice from the World Health Organization before reinstating in-flight salads.
