Hong Kong International Airport recently rolled out options for the hub’s 20 year master development plan.
The plans consist of two options. One would add a third runway while the other would keep only 2 runways while expanding terminal facilities.
Adding a third runway would increase the airport’s annual capacity to 97 million.
Hong Kong International welcomed 51 million passengers in 2010, roughly 90% of its current capacity.
The airport is currently weighing its options for expansion during a three month consultation process.
