The town of Bristol, Rhode Island has been hosting “America’s oldest 4th of July celebration” since 1785 (that’s 228 years!) and you’d better believe they know what they’re doing. Between the Military, Civic and Firemen’s Parade, Drum and Bugle Corps Competition, and various outdoor concerts, there’s plenty to keep visitors entertained all day long. The weekend before the 4th, Bristol holds its annual Fourth of July ball, a formal affair complete with cocktails, a grand march, dinner, and dancing.

Saratoga’s All-American Celebration

Located in upstate New York, the city of Saratoga Springs is situated on one of the most historic battle sights of the Revolutionary War. So, it’s fitting that they pull out all the stops for an annual 4th of July celebration that’s dubbed All-American. Learn about great moments in America’s history by watching live re-enactors and listen to a reading of the Declaration of Independence. Be sure to check out the antique and vintage car show and enjoy some tasty BBQ fare. Carousel rides, face-painting, and games will entertain the kids for hours. In the evening, witness the impressive fireworks display.
