\nOne airport in Paris is taking the boarding experience into the 21st Century. Passengers traveling through a newly renovated gate at Orly Airport in Paris are now being greeted by virtual boarding agents, semi-holographic figures that give ordinary instructions in an extraordinary way.\n<\/p>\n

\nThe “holograms” are actually two dimensional projections set against plexi-glass silhouettes of human beings. All of the virtual agents' instructions and mannerisms were pre-recorded by three real life humans at the beginning of the summer. \n<\/p>\n
\n \n<\/p>\n
\nLike something out of a sci-fi movie, the agents appear (seemingly out of mid-air) at the beginning of each boarding process.\n<\/p>\n
\n \n<\/p>\n
\nSo far the reaction to the new technology has been mostly positive, according to airport officials. The holograms will be given a full “performance” review at the end of the year.\n<\/p>\n
\n \n<\/p>\n
\nBased on passenger reaction, use of the virtual agents could spread to other parts of the airport and beyond. \n<\/p>\n
