A 10-minute walk from the Edinburgh Waverley train station is the gourmet tea and coffee shop The Elephant House<\/a>, which has served as a comfortable writing spot for many contemporary authors, including the inimitable J.K. Rowling. She wrote much of the first few Harry Potter<\/em> books in the back room looking out on to the city’s famous castle.
