According to reports originating on TheWrap.com Tuesday, Comcast is seeking to purchase full control of the Universal Orlando theme park.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The cable conglomerate\u2019s purchase of NBCUniversal earlier this year gave the company ownership of 50 percent of Orlando\u2019s second-largest theme park.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

However, it has been widely reported that the park\u2019s co-owner, Blackstone, is looking to sell its share of the resort.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Comcast would likely pay an additional $1 billion to $1.5 billion for Blackstone\u2019s share. Comcast has until June 12 to purchase Blackstone\u2019s stake in the park; afterward the company will be free to hear bids from third-party corporations for the property.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The report follows one of the most successful stints in the history of Universal Orlando. The opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter helped the park increase attendance 68 percent through the first three months of 2011.<\/p>\n
