Families with young children:\u00a0 Pack your bags!\u00a0 Florida<\/a> is about to become home to the second US based Legoland theme park opening on October 15, 2011.<\/p>\n

Both kids and adults have the opportunity to get inside the set of our favorite childhood building block system in this 150-acre theme park.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It’s location will be in Winter Haven, just a 45-minute drive to the east of Tampa (so start statching up cheap flights to Tampa<\/a> while you can), and about the same to the south of Orlando.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Onsite, families will be able to dive head-first into an interactive park with over 50 rides, most of which require some sort of hands-on activity.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

There will be no \u201csit back and relax\u201d type of rides here; instead,\u00a0 the family will become physically involved, meaning you might have to push buttons or turn wheels in order to drive that car or ward off dragons.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The park is divided into different areas according to the rides and activities located within the zone. The Lego Technic area offers visitors access to the Test Track and the Technicycle, where peddle and drive power are harnessed.\u00a0 Miniland USA will have seven different sections with themes from around the country, such as a New York section and a Las Vegas<\/a> section.\u00a0 Land of Adventure will let the family explore everything from old dinosaurs and treasure hunting to African safaris.\u00a0 Ride around with laser blasters on the Lost Kingdom Adventure, or shoot foam balls at each other in the Pharaoh’s Revenge.<\/p>\n

One day tickets to Legoland run from $55-65 depending on the age of the person entering, but you can upgrade your ticket to a 2-day pass for just $15 more with a quick stop at Guest Services.\u00a0 You can use your second day within 9 days of the first entry.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

If staying in Orlando<\/a>, there is a $10 return shuttle to\/from Legoland to make your journey that much easier.\u00a0 Pet owners:\u00a0 There are kennels near the front gate, but you will need to drop by Guest Services to set up the deposit.<\/p>\n
