The Big Apple experienced a tourism boom last year, shattering the previous record for annual visits by a wide margin.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

So how do New Yorkers plan on topping this amazing feat?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

According to a report in the Washington Post<\/a>, tourism authorities have set the bar even higher, with hopes of attracting 55 million annual visitors by the year 2015.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

They also believe the children are the future, targeting younger travelers in a new marketing effort.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The city has kicked off a campaign called New York 30, which is aimed at attracting travelers aged 18 to 29; the folks most likely to become repeat visitors. In all, New York City hopes to draw an additional 1 million youngsters over the next five years.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

According to the report, the city will appeal to the next generation through a series of advertisements featuring night clubs, vintage shops, and youth hostels.<\/p>\n
