It\u2019s also the number of tourists who visited New York City in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Big Apple experienced a tourism boom last year, shattering the previous record for annual visits by a wide margin.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So how do New Yorkers plan on topping this amazing feat?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/lifestyle\/travel\/nyc-sets-annual-goal-of-55-million-visitors-by-2015-targeting-young-travelers\/2012\/03\/07\/gIQAh25kwR_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">report in the Washington Post<\/a>, tourism authorities have set the bar even higher, with hopes of attracting 55 million annual visitors by the year 2015.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>They also believe the children are the future, targeting younger travelers in a new marketing effort.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The city has kicked off a campaign called New York 30, which is aimed at attracting travelers aged 18 to 29; the folks most likely to become repeat visitors.
