Sweden\u2019s capital is the sort that never lets you take your
\neyes off of her. I hopped aboard my airBerlin flight from Berlin<\/a> to Stockholm
\nto find a city sparkling in blondes, grand public buildings, palaces and a rich
\nhistory across more than a dozen islands. By the time summer has arrived, locals
\ntake their lives outdoors. It is all about soaking up every minute of sunshine,
\neven if there is a chilling wind whipping through the air.<\/p>\n

And while one might feel a bit self conscious if their hair
\ncolor doesn\u2019t match the sun here, Stockholm offers a little bit of adventure,
\nhistory, romance and nature to everyone. Clearly, Stockholm is a blonde and
\nknows just how to have some well rounded fun.<\/p>\n

For Adventure, Hike
\nStockholm\u2019s Rooftops:<\/strong>As you arrive to Stockholm\u2019s old parliament building,
\nyou can spot people on the roof, seemingly just walking along with no sort of
\nrailing or guard. The thought of hiking<\/a> on a rooftop without a railing may
\nfrighten you.\u00a0 However, the Stockholm
\nRooftop hike put on by UpplevMer<\/a> makes for one of the city\u2019s most unusual
\nwalking tours. Equipped with a harness and helmet, travelers make their way
\nacross catwalks on Stockholm\u2019s former parliamentary roof. The guide pauses at
\ncertain points to tell you a little bit of background on the scene you are
\nobserving from above. Concentrating on those words can be a bit more difficult
\nwhen worried about falling to your certain demise.<\/p>\n

For History, Visit
\nVasa Museet:<\/strong> The Vasa Museet in Stockholm is a right of passage for many
\nSwedes. They either are forced to come to the museum<\/a> as a child on a school
\ntrip or they make their way here by the time they have children of their own.
\nRegardless, out of town tourists are joining them. You can\u2019t blame the masses
\nfor their excitement of a tour examining a warship from the 17th<\/sup>
\ncentury. Found and salvaged from the sea in 1961, the Vasa ship sank on its
\nmaiden voyage in Stockholm in 1628, after just 15 minutes of sailing. Aside
\nfrom being floored due to the Vasa\u2019s size, the intricate carvings are
\nimpressive to consider, especially with the ship\u2019s original date in mind.<\/p>\n

For Romance, Quiet
\ndinners in Stortoget in Gamla Stan:<\/strong> The old town of Stockholm serves as the
\noriginal city center of the capital. Its cobbled streets and ketchup and
\nmustard colored buildings make for a scene of romance, despite all the souvenir
\nshops selling anything and everything with the Swedish flag on it. The main
\nsquare, Stortoget, may have a bloody history like most medieval town centers,
\nbut the cozy cafes and restaurants with outdoor seating suggest another tone.
\nBlankets are provided on cool Swedish summer nights to ensure maximum people
\nwatching potential out on the square.<\/p>\n

For Nature, Boating
\nto Stockholm\u2019s Many Islands:<\/strong> The city itself spreads across 14 islands in
\nLake M\u00e4laren and the Baltic Sea. Boat tours are offered around the city and a for
\na little taste of the archipelago. Stockholm surrounds in an archipelago of about
\n30,000 islands, islet rocks and skerries. Many islands like Grinda offer a nice
\nescape from the world back home and allow you to see Sweden\u2019s natural beauty
\nfrom a different perspective.<\/p>\n
